- AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle)
- A wheeled transport robot that follows fixed guidance such as magnetic tape, QR-code grids or laser landmarks. Best for repeated routes. Unlike an AMR it cannot reroute freely when the floor changes. See related →
- AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot)
- A mobile robot that builds its own map using SLAM and plans paths dynamically around obstacles. Flexible for changing layouts, at a higher sensor and compute cost than an AGV. See related →
- Cobot (Collaborative Robot)
- A robot designed to share workspace with people under ISO/TS 15066, limiting force and speed at contact. Ideal for high-mix assembly without safety fencing. See related →
- Cycle time
- The time one machine or cell takes to complete one full operation and return to start. The headline number buyers compare when sizing a robot for takt time. See related →
- EOAT (End-Of-Arm Tooling)
- Grippers, weld torches, quick changers and sensors mounted at the robot wrist. Usually decides project success more than the arm itself. See related →
- Payload
- The maximum mass a robot can carry at rated speed at the tool flange, including the gripper. Exceeding it degrades accuracy and shortens reducer life. See related →
- Repeatability
- How closely a robot returns to a taught point, stated as plus-minus a value such as 0.02 mm. It is different from absolute accuracy, which matters for offline programming. See related →
- SCARA
- A four-axis robot (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) that is fast and rigid in the horizontal plane. Common for pick-and-place and screw driving in electronics. See related →
- Takt time
- The available production time divided by customer demand. A cell must complete each unit within this beat, so cycle time must be shorter than takt. See related →
